VEGANZ was founded in 1992 and is the national body representing vegans in NZ.
The Society became a Charitable Trust in 2002.

We have members ranging from 15 years through to over 50 years and encompass all walks of life - professors, parents, students, activists, retired folk, builders, children, vegan communities / families / couples / individuals and more……

Although there are no formal branches, members in different regions organise social meetings in a regular (or not - so - regular) manner.

The Society has no funding and relies on membership and donations to cover costs, and volunteers to carry out the work of the society.

The Society publishes a quarterly magazine for members called "VEGANZ" and members and non members are welcome to submit articles / graphics / notices / adverts for the magazine.

We welcome donations or bequests which will allow us to expand our resources and enable us to carry out projects to:

  • Support vegans by providing quality books and other information on health, nutrition, raising vegan families and other topics.

  • Increase awareness of vegan issues and support networks in the wider public.

  • Liaise with media to create the general perception of a vegan lifestyle as being a healthy lifestyle.
